Walking Tour: The South Side's British Connections

Join us for a walk through history with guide Karen Cahall, whose years of experience with the Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation bring an expert eye to places and stories you've likely walked past a hundred times without knowing their British roots.

This year, Karen takes us through the South Side — a neighborhood with far more character and history than Carson Street's nightlife lets on. Long before it was known for its nightlife, the South Side was a proud, close-knit community built by generations of immigrant families, with architecture, institutions, and stories that reach back across the Atlantic. We'll explore the streets, buildings, and details that reveal those British ties, and get to know this historic neighborhood the way locals do.
Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather — it is Pittsburgh, after all!
